Flash Player Compatibility Alert

There is a serious issue with the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player that will cause some Flash files with audio to sound garbled or high pitched. Unfortunately, this affects our CBTClips training videos. NOTE: CDs purchased after January 27, 2008 are not affected.

CBTClips are produced with Camtasia software. Here is how they are addressing this issue:

From Techsmith (makers of Camtasia)
"Camtasia Studio Flash content playing on the latest release of the Flash Player (v9.0.115.0) will cause audio to sound garbled and/or contain a high pitched chirp, described as sounding like a chipmunk.

We have investigated this issue and found that it occurs when all of the following are true:

  • The SWF file was produced with MP3 audio
  • The SWF file is played in the latest Flash Player, version 9.0.115.0

We've reported this bug to the Adobe Flash Player team, because earlier Flash Players play these same SWF files without the garbled audio."

Solution:
We have re-produced all of our video clips to make the audio compatible with the newest version of the Flash Player. Contact us to request a free replacement product.

Should you wish to revert to an earlier version of the Flash Player, follow these instructions:

Reinstalling an earlier version of Adobe Flash Player
Download the uninstaller for Flash Player from "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control"

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2

1. Select Start
2. Select Run
3. Type cmd
4. In the command window, type the following: uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean.
This will remove all entries in the system registry and resolve this issue.

Note: The uninstall_flash_player.exe file must be saved to the same directory that the command window is in, for example C:\.
